Northern Lights at Home Earns Direct Selling Association Approval

Wellsville, New York, December 4, 2001 – Northern Lights at Home®, a direct selling division of Northern Lights Candles™, a market leading candle manufacturer located in Wellsville, New York, was approved as official members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) at their December 4, 2001, board meeting.

The induction marks the end of Northern Lights at Home’s one-year DSA membership waiting period. Now officially a DSA member, at Home joins the ranks of over 150 direct selling companies and more than 200 supplier firms who currently belong to the DSA.

Founded in 1920, the DSA is a National Trade Association serving the needs and representing the interests of companies and firms that market products and services directly to consumers through personal contact, using a personal sales contract and either a single or multi-level compensation structure. Obtaining a DSA membership includes applying, and then waiting a year, during which the company/firm will be investigated by the DSA to see if they live up to the DSA’s standards. There are currently 40+ companies whose applications for membership in the association are going through the one-year investigation process.

DSA's member companies have pledged to abide by the provisions of the Code of Ethics, while “recognizing that companies engaged in direct selling assume certain responsibilities toward consumers arising out of the personal-contact method of distribution of their products and services, hereby sets forth the basic fair and ethical principles and practices to which member companies of the association will continue to adhere in the conduct of their business.”

“ We are very pleased to be official members of the DSA,” says Deanna Davison, Corporate Director of Northern Lights at Home. “While Northern Lights at Home has always stood for the highest degree of integrity and honesty, being accepted as members of the DSA insures that we uphold these practices. This is reassuring to those taking a look at the business opportunity as well as to our customers.”
